Joey Onkst Scholarship Fund Assists Devloping Musicians

The recent loss of Joey Onkst, one of our close family of students here at Johnny Guitar's, deeply affected all of us associated with our program. We continue to miss his wit and positive attitude, especially on Thursday evenings, when he would roll in for his lessons with Jimmie. It'll never be the same.

We are honored to announce that Joey's parents, Dan and Janie, have established a scholarship fund in his name for young and aspiring students here at Johnny Guitar's Musical Institute.

The scholarship will be used to assist beginning musicians that might not otherwise be able to afford the costs associated with starting lessons as well as recognizing those young musicians that show exceptional drive and determination in improving their musical skills (like Joey always did). We will begin accepting applications during the holiday season.

Joey was (and still is) one of the brightest stars associated with Johnny Guitar's. He always remained positive and jovial and showed true passion in his music. It was always central in his life. The Onksts had numerous charities they could have chosen for donations in his name. They chose this scholarship in hopes to pass on joey's passion to other young artists. It's only fitting that we continue to honor him in this way.

Donations to the Joey Onkst Scholarship Fund will continue to be gratefully accepted here at Johnny Guitar's. Please contact us if you are interested in participating.
